Easter eggs

I know Easter was yesterday, but Thomas threw up in nursery yesterday (thankfully I was in the nursery and he threw up ON me). So we came home early and made Easter dinner and everything. Here, as promised, are a couple of pictures of the eggs the boys made.

These eggs are supposed to be different ve-egg-icles (vehicles). The light reflected off the eggs so it's hard to tell that there is a police car, a firetruck, a bus, and a race car. Notice the little wheels that came with the kit so as to drive your egg. Thomas, of course, thought it was great and was pushing his eggs around the table making "vroom" sounds.

I LOVE these eggs. Yep, it's official. We really are Star Wars nerds. I love the little black helmet that fits over the Darth Vader egg.

Today the boys got out their eggs to "play" with. I have to keep telling them that we eat them, not play with them. I was out of the room for a few minutes and came into the dining room only to find the boys "racing "their eggs across the table. They were rolling them down the table and of course some fell off. Guess I'll be eating some of them soon. Then Thomas wanted to hide the Easter eggs. I had a momentary vision of him forgetting where an egg was and then the place smelling of rotten eggs. So I had them put the real eggs back in the fridge and now they are happily hiding the plastic eggs. (of course Thomas opened some of them and the jelly beans fell all over the floor. He was more than happy to "clean" it up. )

"Pump up the Volume"

Does anyone remember that song? (of course there is always the movie "Pump up the Volume" as well. I went through a Cristian Slater phase a while ago.) I'll see if I can find it (the song) on you Tube. You can ignore the video, but here is the song.

I'm at home, alone, pumping up the volume on my i-tunes. I have a playlist titled "dance music" and it has alot of boppy types of songs on it. (My "in the mood to clean" playlist has a bunch of the same types of songs.) Although I am in the kitchen doing things, I imagine being in a dance club again. Many of these early techno songs remind me of my dance club, and Pom Pon days. I really miss going dancing. I love the way that songs like "Pump up the Volume", or songs by Snap, Real McCoy, La Bouche, Eiffel 65, Crystal Waters, and New Order make me want to dance around. Sometimes I dance around with the boys and they think it's hilarious. I often tell Doug that I'm going to go to a dance club, but then "I don't think we're in Provo anymore Toto." It was fun in Provo, but even in Salt Lake Clubs you feel like to have to fend off the weirdos that try to pick up on you. Who knows what it would be like around here?! "Come on people! Can't we just be here and have fun dancing?!" Then again it would look funny for someone who is clearly not in her 20's anymore dancing around with a big pregnant tummy.

One of these days I'm going to put up the pictures of what I looked like pregnant with Matt, and Thomas, and then with this one. I swear that in 2 months I won't be able to do dishes anymore because I won't be able to reach the water. (wouldn't that be a shame?!) And I'm only half way done!

Doug, the boys, and Doug's brother went to the Air and Space Museum so I am here making preparations for Easter dinner tomorrow. Of course it doesn't take that long to make jello, and a cheesecake. I also made hard boiled eggs and when the boys get back we're going to dye Easter eggs. The boys haven't done this before so I hope it doesn't make a big mess. Last year after Easter I bought egg kits to decorate eggs like Star Wars stuff and also like trucks. We'll get some pictures up.

So, now I digress, but the song on my i-tunes playing at the moment is "Oh yeah" by Yello. You know, the song from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" at the end when the principal is getting on the bus. (I love that movie) I remember when I went to the Chicago Institute of Art and saw the Seurat painting that Cameron (from the movie) was staring at and the camera zoomed in point by point.

It really is amazing that the painting is made with little dots.

Anyway, I should go. I want to start another book while I have some peace and quiet.

Daylight savings time

Daylight savings time is stupid. What do we save? Absolutely nothing! It messes up everybody's clocks twice a year. For what? A little extra sun? Well maybe if we left the clocks alone it would all work out anyway. There are other states that don't do it and I'm pretty sure the rest of the world doesn't either. We sure are backwards...literally this week we are. How silly.

Happy anniversary to us!

8 years ago Doug and I got married...not just for this life, but for eternity. Eight years seems like a while, but in some ways it has gone by quickly. It seems like we're still learning new things about each other that we didn't know before. That's exciting. I'm so grateful that I get to spend forever with my best friend. I love spending time with him even if it's watching a sporting event ( of couse I appreciate a good basketball or football game like any girl-no, seriously I really do). I love how he wants to share the exciting moments of the game with me. "Hey Jen, watch this!" as he rewinds the TV and then shows me what was so cool. I like that he gets excited about things and shares them with me. Too bad he doesn't get as nearly excited when I show him a cool cooking manuver or something funny on 'Iron Chef'. Oh well. We have eternity to perfect that one! I love that he is a hard worker and people respect him. I'm very proud of him for all he's accomplished. I don't even know how I would have gone through school with two children being born, having a full time job, and traveling across country to find a new one. I love that he respects me. That was one of the main reasons I fell for him (that and his blue eyes and his rear looks really nice in jeans!). I love that he respected women and that was quite nice after some of the jerks I dated. I love his sense of humor. Granted, I may roll my eyes at times, but it really is a very sophisticated sense of humor- another reason I fell in love with him. Ask him to tell you the Little Miss Muffet joke. You'll roll your eyes too, but it's an example of his humor. I love watching him play with the boys. He is Jungle Dad. They love playing with him too. Too bad I don't have the energy to be climbed upon for an hour. The boys look up to him and love him. It's so nice when he comes home and they both go running for the door, shouting, "Dad!!" and then they wrap their arms around his legs. It's so cute. I appreciate all that he does for us. I really appreciate that he values my girl time and my need to get out. I know that is unique about our relationship (that I get a weekly girls night). I remember his mother telling me that we have a very unique relationship. I believe that this is because we were such great friends before hand. I'm grateful for the foundation of friendship we had for nearly a year before we started dating. I'm grateful for his courage to come up to me one Sunday afternoon over 8 1/2 years ago telling me that he was attracted to me but didn't want to jeopardize our friendship, so what should we do about it. (of course he told me in french so it wasn't nearly as scary for either of us!) I'm grateful for his mother and that she taught him to be such a wonderful man. I can only hope that my boys turn out as well him.

Well, I'm getting verclempt (a SNL term from 'Coffee Talk'). I thought I'd post a few oldies but goodies from that wonderful day 8 years ago.

This one is us as we came out of the temple as Mr & Mrs.

Don't you love the poses that your photographer makes you do?

Cake cutting. We were both very nice with the cake, but who would expect anything other than niceness from Doug with a handfull of cake. When we were taking this picture, I was like "hey, where's my fountain?!" They messed up, but it was shortly remedied by propping up the cake on a pedestal and putting the fountain under it. We actually did save the top part of the cake in our freezer. It was chocolate with a mint filling. And it was not that tasty a few months later when we got it out. There was no way we were waiting a whole year to eat that thing!

Maybe tonite for family movie night we'll fire up the video camera and watch wedding videos. Then again we haven't really watched them for 8 years. I think that it would bore the boys. We'll get them out when they get ready for their own weddings. Hee hee. That would be embarassing for them.
